NZ Navy Vessels Begin Visit to Vietnam in Sign of Friendship

Two auxiliary ships of the Royal New Zealand Navy – HMNZS Aotearoa and HMNZS Te Mana – arrived at Saigon Port in Ho Chi Minh City on September 24 as part of a goodwill visit to celebrate 48 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and New Zealand, according to a report by VOV. Promoting Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Through Cultural Exchange

The event was organized by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO)’s representative office in the southern region, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s chapter in HCM City, the Vietnam-ASEAN Friendship Association in HCM City, and Thailand’s Consulate General in the city. The program was held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership (2003-2023), according to Tran Hoang Khanh Van, deputy head of VUFO’s southern region office. Vietnam Rejects China’s 9-Dash Line in Upholding Ban on ‘Barbie’

Variety, an American magazine, reported that a spokesperson from Warner Bros. Film Group stated that the map in Barbie Land is a child-like crayon drawing. The doodles on the map depict Barbie’s fictional journey from Barbie Land to the real world. The spokesperson clarified that the intention was not to make any type of statement. Vi Kien Thanh, head of the Vietnam Cinema Department, responded to Warner Bros.’ explanation, stating that he has not received any information about it and upholds the ban on the movie. Thanh also mentioned that he does not pay attention to images of the Barbie movie circulating on social media. According to Variety, representatives for director Greta Gerwig and Warner Bros. declined to comment on specific plot points to avoid spoilers.
