The annual commemoration of the Hung Kings’ anniversary, as announced by the People’s Committee of Phu Tho Province, will be a two-part event this year, consisting of solemn worship rituals and vibrant celebrations. UNESCO’s Earth Sciences and Geo-hazards Risk Reduction Section renewed the Dak Nong Geopark’s title at a ceremony hosted by the provincial People’s Committee on Thursday evening. This prestigious recognition highlights the region’s exceptional geological and geo-hazard risk reduction efforts. Spanning across 4,760 square kilometers, the geopark encompasses five districts – Krong No, Cu Jut, Dak Mil, Dak Song, and Dak G’Long – and Gia Nghia Town. With 65 geological and geomorphological heritage sites, including a vast system of caves, craters, and waterfalls, the Dak Nong Geopark offers a unique insight into the region’s natural history. A senior official from Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has refuted claims suggesting that Ha Long Bay could be removed from the UNESCO World Heritage List. In a recent interview with VTC News , the official dismissed the rumors, providing clarity on the actual purpose of UNESCO’s upcoming visit. Additionally, a representative from the expert group representing Vietnam at the World Heritage Committee also refuted the misinformation in an interview with Tuoi Tre newspaper on Monday.
