Remittances to Ho Chi Minh City: A Strong Start to 2023 with Over $2.41 Billion Received in the First Quarter

According to Nguyen Duc Lenh, Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam’s Region 2 Branch, remittance companies accounted for the lion’s share of Ho Chi Minh City’s remittances, totaling nearly 1.76 billion USD, while commercial banks received 655 million USD. Asia continued to be the largest source of remittances to the city, contributing 48.7%, a notable increase of 46.1% from the previous quarter. On April 19, Vietnamese People’s Daily Nhan Dan released saxophone legend Kenny G’s Going Home – a special music video that promotes Vietnamese tourism, VOV reported. Through lovely, sweet melodies, Kenny G takes viewers to famous historical landmarks of Hanoi such as Long Bien Bridge, Returned Sword Lake, Turtle Tower, The Huc Bridge, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and Temple of Literature, among others. Similarweb: National Tourism Promotion Website Vietnam.travel Ranks Top in the Region

Similarweb’s published list of rankings of national tourism referral sites in March 2024 shows that Vietnam.travel ranked 132,676 globally. This ranking surpasses the position of Thai tourism (rank 136,108) and far surpasses many websites of other countries such as the Philippines (rank 808,295), and Malaysia (rank 881,886). Regarding the rate of visits from international markets, Vietnam.travel has an outstandingly high rate when reaching 85%, higher than websites from Indonesia (64%), Thailand (44%), Malaysia (42%), and the Philippines (28%). Phu Tho Ceremony Commemorates Legendary Vietnamese Ancestors

According to the legend, Lac Long Quan (real name Sung Lam, the son of Kinh Duong Vuong and Than Long Nu) married Au Co (the fairy daughter of De Lai). Au Co then went on to give birth to a pouch filled with one hundred eggs, which hatched into a hundred sons. However, soon thereafter, Lac Long Quan and Au Co separated. Lac Long Quan went to the coast with 50 of the children, while Au Co went to the highlands with the rest. Their eldest son was made king, who named the country Van Lang and set up the capital in Phong Chau (modern-day Viet Tri city in Phu Tho province), beginning the 18 reigns of the Hung Kings. The kings chose Nghia Linh Mountain, the highest in the region, to perform rituals devoted to rice and sun deities to pray for bumper crops. Vietnamese boxer wins silver at world boxing championship

Before the match, Zareen was considered the great hope for the host to secure the championship title.  She was the defending champion in the 52kg class before moving down to the 50kg weight category. The first round saw Zareen, who received great cheers from home spectators, launch many quality right-handed punches toward Tam. The host boxer received five 10-point markings from judges, while the visiting fighter got five 9-point markings, losing the round. Hanoi Library completes renovation with support from South Korea

On April 18, the Hanoi Library  i n co-operation with COPION Organization (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea) inaugurated  the project to renovate the library to make it more modern.    With the funding of VND44 billion (US$1.9 million) from South Korea, the Hanoi Library has new reading rooms, more equipment, furniture, books, and newspapers.
