A Historical Milestone for Workers’ Rights International Workers’ Day has its roots in the late 19th century, emerging from the workers’ rights movement in the US. Over time, it has become a global day of action, with workers around the world uniting to fight for fair and just treatment. In Vietnam, May 1, 1930, marks a significant date in history when the country’s working class, led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, took to the streets to demand better working conditions, higher wages, and reduced working hours. Their struggle, though challenging, paved the way for a pivotal chapter in the workers’ movement, culminating in the powerful Nghe Tinh Soviet movement. THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi is committed to enhancing workers’ well-being during the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month and Worker Month 2025. A range of initiatives will be implemented to improve working conditions, with a focus on occupational disease prevention and healthcare for employees. These initiatives aim to raise awareness and educate employers, workers, and medical professionals about identifying and mitigating hazards in the workplace.
