Vietnam’s Phu Yen to host tuna parties on coming holiday

The upcoming five-day holiday lasts from April 29 to May 3 to celebrate Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day (April 29), Reunification Day (April 30), and International Workers’ Day (May 1).

To cater to tourists during this occasion, the coastal province already prepared multiple events, especially tuna parties held at major tourist attractions in the provincial capital city of Tuy Hoa, said Cao Hong Nguyen, head of the tourism management division under the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on Sunday.

On April 30 and May 1 evenings, the Stelia Beach Resort and the Apec Mandala Phu Yen will throw buffet parties and display tuna filleting skills, offering guests a wide selection of tasty tuna dishes, while the Sala Grand Tuy Hoa Hotel will open a rural-style market and offer a buffet party.

Ta Van Tho, general manager at the Apec Mandala Phu Yen Hotel, said Phu Yen is the cradle of tuna fishing in Vietnam. People can make a host of mouth-watering tuna recipes.

Besides savoring delicious tuna dishes, guests will see chefs display tuna filleting and cooking skills in person, Tho added.

According to a Stelia Beach Resort representative, its gala dinners will not only feature tuna filleting and cooking skills but also art performances.

Up to date, tourism businesses in the province have made thorough preparations for the holiday, including preparing an adequate number of vehicles to transport tourists, offering various tours enabling tourists to better experience the local cultural and historic destinations in Phu Yen, Nguyen said.

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism also asked tourism service providers to strictly comply with regulations on food safety, hygiene, and price listing while offering their services to tourists.

Nguyen added that the province is anticipated to welcome some 40,700 tourist arrivals and earn VND80 billion (US$3.4 million) in revenue during the coming holiday, up 38 percent and 60 percent year on year, respectively.

Major hotels and coastal ones in Tuy Hoa City have recorded around 90-100 percent of their rooms booked for the holiday, while lots of rooms at smaller hotels are still available for booking, the official said.
