The Death of a Legend: Trial for Maradona’s Untimely Passing Delayed Until 2025
A court in San Isidro, a town outside of Buenos Aires, has agreed to postpone the trial of those accused in the death of football legend Diego Maradona.
The trial, which was originally set to begin on June 4 and then postponed until October 1, will now commence on March 11, according to the Argentine newspaper La Nacion.
Maradona, a footballing icon who led Argentina to their second World Cup victory in 1986, passed away in November 2020 at the age of 60 due to heart failure. This followed brain surgery that he had undergone days prior.
Those charged in connection with his death include Maradona’s neurosurgeon, psychologist, psychiatrist, and nurses. They face potential prison sentences ranging from eight to 25 years.
