On display are 112 sketches, featuring typical images of Vietnam, from the buffaloes and bamboo trees to the gate of the Hung Kings Temple and Hanoi’s Flag Tower.
The exhibition also displays the originals of more than 100 pencil and colour drawings of the national emblem.
Some 15 sketches were submitted to the Government in October 1954 for consideration, and President Ho Chi Minh signed a decree on January 14, 1956 to publicise the official emblem of Vietnam.

Before the game started, both teams spent a moment of silence in memory of Brazilian football legend Pele, who passed away last week. Vietnam looked poised for the last four with an early goal just eight minutes into the game. Nguyen Van Quyet conjured up a brilliant assist for Pham Tuan Hai to tap in, but before Hai could touch the ball, Zin Lwin scored an own goal. Vietnam’s goalkeeper Dang Van Lam and defense line almost brought the match back to the start by making grave mistakes in just a few minutes with wrong positioning and careless passes. However, the Myanmar players failed to convert those chances. The hosts doubled the lead in the 27th minute when Myanmar keeper Tun Nanda Oo could not catch the ball cleanly from Doan Van Hau’s cross, leaving Nguyen Tien Linh with an easy job. ‘Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell,’ which vies for the Camera d’Or Award against 17 other competitors in the Directors’ Fortnight section, was premiered at 4:45 pm in France. Directed by Pham Thien An, the movie tells the story of a journey taken by a young man named Thien, who is tasked with delivering his sister-in-law’s body to their countryside hometown following a tragic motorcycle accident. Amid the mystical landscapes of rural Vietnam, Thien begins a search for his older brother, who vanished years ago. As the debut screening of the movie ended after three hours on Wednesday, audiences rose and stood applauding for five minutes. According to AP News , a five-minute standing ovation would count as a dream response in most places in the world although it is supposedly tepid in Cannes. For An Nguyen, a Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reader, who experienced such standing ovation first-hand, the responses were deeply emotional. “This can be considered as [Vietnam’s] shini...
Phuc, who has accrued a sizeable following among fans on social media, including TikTok, has become the first ever Vietnamese freestyle footballer to showcase his skills at an official LaLiga match. The performance was orchestrated by LaLiga and Deportivo Alaves, who invited a total of 16 TikTok content creators from Asia-Pacific countries to attend Sunday’s game at Alaves’s Mendizorrotza Stadium. Phuc was the only content creator among them to deliver a performance. Wearing an áo bà ba, a traditional garment of people in southern Vietnam, a nón lá, or Vietnamese conical hat, and the Vietnamese national flag, Phuc seamlessly incorporated these elements into his artistic football showcase. To prepare for his gig, Phuc had a session to get familiar with the field and rehearse the music a day before, according to The Thao & Van Hoa (Sports and Culture) newspaper. Initially, he encountered concerns because the field was affected by strong winds and co...
